Meet Father

Fr. John’s church service began early, drawn to the beauty of the Church as a child in a large family. At 16, he joined Saint George Monastery in Syria, where he immersed himself in monastic life and completed his high school studies. He then pursued theological education at Balamand University Seminary in Lebanon and further studied at the Orthodox Seminary in Athens, Greece.

Before his ordination, Fr. John served as Vice Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of Hama, working closely with Metropolitan Elia Saliba, who became his mentor and spiritual father. Following his ordination, he continued his ministry in Hama under Metropolitan Saliba's guidance, gaining valuable pastoral and administrative experience.

Fr. John’s ministry took him to Windsor, Canada, where he helped unite two parishes into one community, and purchased a new facility. After personal issues took him to Syria and Athens, he returned to North America. In 2009, Metropolitan Saliba sent Fr. John to Akron to assist the ailing Fr. Louis Mahshie. Fr. John served as assistant priest for six years before being elevated to pastor following Fr. Lou’s passing in 2015.

Since then, he has focused on outreach to immigrant communities and those affected by Middle Eastern conflicts.

He is dedicated to instructing catechumens and providing pastoral care through home, hospital, and care facility visits. In 2017, he led St. George's 100th Anniversary celebration. His compassionate leadership continues to bring stability and hope to his congregation.
